Proof American Silver Eagle Design – The US Mint used the same design for the front side of the coin as the Walking Liberty Silver Half-Dollar, originally designed by Adolph A. Weinman and known as one of America’s most beautiful silver coins. The Proof Silver American Eagle coin depicts Lady Liberty cloaked in the American flag adorned by olive branches as she walks toward the new day (the sun). “IN GOD WE TRUST” is imprinted on right side of the coin.

The back side of the Proof American Silver Eagle coin was designed by John Mercanti and depicts the symbolic eagle beneath an inverse pyramid of 13 stars, which represents the original 13 colonies. The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER~ONE DOLLAR” encircle the outer rim of the coin.
