Indian Head $10 Gold Coin

The Indian Head $10 Gold Coin is designed by one of America’s most acclaimed Sculptors, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, and this coin is one of the most exquisite gold coins on the market.

Indian Head $10 Gold Coin Design – The front side of the Indian Head $10 Gold Coin features a bust of Lady Liberty, donning an Indian-style headdress. Thirteen stars to represent the nation’s 13 original colonies form an arc at the top of the coin. The date of the issue appears at the bottom of the coin.

A signature bald eagle clinging to an olive branch depicts on the reverse side of the coin. The Latin phrase “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the denomination all appear on the reverse as well. “IN GOD WE TRUST” was added to the coin in 1908 by order of Congress. A unique feature of this coin is the raised star edge versus a lettered or reeded edge. The coins struck 1907-1911 have 46 stars. Two more stars were added to commemorate the addition of Arizona and New Mexico into the Union in 1912.

Indian Head $10 Gold Coin Minting – This Indian Head coin initially struck in 1907 with a wire rim. This gave the coin a 3-dimensional appearance. Only 500 of these special coins originally produced. Later in the same year, the Mint began producing regular strikes.
